Software engineering is considered to be a man's job these days, even taking into account quite a massive gender shift happening over recent years. But when looking deeper into the history, one may notice how strongly this field has been influenced by women scientists and engineers.
International Woman's Day is a perfect time to pay respect to the brilliant women programmers and their achievements that make today's IT possible.
P.S. On the forefront is the picture showing four of six primary programmers of ENIAC, so called “Refrigerator Ladies” (because historians have first confused them with models posing next to the machine). ENIAC was one of the first general-purpose computers designed for US Army.
